Jeddah is located on the west coast of Saudia Arabia and is the country's second largest city. Jeddah is the commercial centre of the kingdom and is often thought to be one of the most progressive cities also. The city sprawls along the coast of the Red Sea and has a far stretching corniche to match. Jeddah's top attraction is the old town, or Al Balad as it is known in Arabic, which is crowded around the ancient Souq al Alawi. Running along either side of the narrow streets around the souq are the coral houses that Jeddah is famous for.
Jeddah is a popular stop of point for pilgrims making their way to the holy city of Mecca which lies to the east.
