Male Hulhule International Airport (MLE)
Male International Airport is a modern facility consisting of a single runway along the waters edge. The airport is situated alone on a small island and ferries or air taxi services are available for transport to the various resort islands. Many of the speedboat transfers leave from directly outside the airport terminal. The arrivals hall is very small with no duty free shopping. The departure terminal has several restaurants including Burger King, the Coffee Club, Dome Caffeteria and Swensen's. There are also several Duty Free shops once you pass through immigration.
The Maldives is the smallest country in Asia; one made up of hundreds of tiny islands in the Indian Ocean. This is a country where over one hundred of these magical islands maintain resorts and luxury hotels along the virtually undistrubed white sand beaches. Numerous marine ecosystems and vast tracks of delicate and colourful coral reef make the Maldives one of the most magnificent places in the world for snorkelling and scuba diving.
The islands are quiet and relaxed and most contain just a single resort meaning the activities are mostly geared around the one property. This is a destination where visitors come to relax, enjoy the beach and tropical climate. While there’s isn’t much in the way of night life and what the Maldives lacks in shopping or night clubs, is more than made up for in its natural beauty, gorgeous white sand beaches, thrilling water sports and delicate underwater ecosystems.
