ETA are proud to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, the Adventurous Journey section. They encourage a sense of adventure and discovery whilst undertaking a team journey or expedition to truly unique destinations. Duke of Edinburgh

Each journey provides participants with the opportunity to learn more about the wider environment, as well as to develop their self-confidence, team work and health. Participants are taken out of their comfort zone but kept within a safe and secure setting, achieved through suitable training and supervision.

Sample Qualifying Journey:

After completing your practice journey and suitable training you could embark on a Qualifying Adventurous Journey just like this;

  • Day 1: Arrive
Welcome to Vietnam! Upon the group arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, your guide will be waiting to welcome and transfer the group to your hotel in town for check-in.

  • Day 2: Familiarisation day
Depart Hanoi for Hoa Binh Province (approx. 5 hours) and the town of Mai Chau. Upon arrival at the village, get settled into your village homestay.
In the afternoon, split into small teams and receive necessary equipment for the 3-day expedition.
Each team will plan their route with every member getting involved in reading the map and leading during the journey.
Check and familiarization trek for the expedition tomorrow.

  • Day 3 - 5:Trekking to rural villages
    Embark on your journey!
The Adventurous Journey Supervisor and Adventurous Journey Assessor are on hand to check the route along the way with the help of local guides.

Upon arrival at each target destination, set up camp with 2-3 students sharing a tent.
During the trek there will be at least one local guide to shadow each team to make sure students will not get lost.
However, students have to navigate themselves to the target destination.
Get truly off the beaten track as we trek through tropical rain forest, rice paddies and villages.
On the final day, stay in a homestay in the village.

  • Day 6 - 7:Back to Hanoi for departure
Transfer back to Hanoi in the afternoon and enjoy your free time at leisure.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to the airport for your flight back home.
